Uses
1. Linear technique
We can create our composition by drawing parallel lines close together or by drawing lines, one on top of the other, in a criss-cross pattern. The closely drawn lines or the criss-cross pattern should be thicker in the area where a darker shade is required.
2. Felt pen and water
Colour the areas you want with felt pen. Then dip a paintbrush in water and swipe it over the colour. This will spread the colour creating soft tonal gradations.
3. Mixing
To obtain a wet mixture: if you don’t wait for the colours to dry while drawing with the felt pens, the colours which are closest together will run and intermingle. Or a dry mixture: if you put a light colour over a dry dark colour this will result in a new colour (if a dark colour is applied over a light one there will hardly be any difference).
